Sharks on land.
Sharks have been in many movies, books, poem and even comics, and are often portrayed as man eaters. The most famous story with a shark in it would be Jaws. This movie directed by Steven Spielberg became the source of the fear and hatred of sharks. However not all stories with sharks in them frightened people, Gary Larson, a cartoonist did many funny shark comic strips portraying the sharks with human characteristics, and some were very funny. While most sharks in stories are attacking people this is what is natural for them and nothing less is to be expected. Cartoonist who draw sharks in their cartoons as the main character usually don't have sharks eat people and if they do it is smothered with a joke. And often the shark will not eat a person in the strip but it will rather portray the shark with human traits. A example of this is the comic strip Sherman's Lagoon, it has been going for at least twenty years, and in one comic strip he has the main character get finned. Which is also another term for getting caught in a net and having your fins cut off, then dumped back in to the sea. However when Sherman dies he is sent back from shark heaven after having been told that they have too many sharks there which also means that humans kill sharks too often and too much. Some cartoonists express with humor how much we kill sharks and how cruel it is and urge us to stop.
